An Evening in Celebration of Our Immigrant Roots

September 9 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Suggested Donation, $20 (payable at the door the night of the event)

Join us for a special, one-night-only event designed to help our church raise vital funds to support local families who may face a sudden deportation.  Come take part in an evening of silent auctions and raffles, featuring an array of gifts donated by local businesses and individuals, including 30 Mile Brewing Co., Anna’s Cafe, Ann Lightfoot Jewelry, Essence Center for Beauty and Wellness, Essex Chocolatier & Coffee Bar, Florence Griswold Museum, Fromage Fine Foods & Coffees, Garde Arts Center, Judy Friday Gallery, Lark, Sennheiser, Squared Circle Studio, The Chocolate Shell and White Gate Farm. Other gifts to be auctioned or raffled include artwork and craftwork from local artists such as Angie Falstrom, Diana Lord, Lina Tuck and Tina West; kayaking and boat trips hosted by congregation members; and a planting of 100 daffodils from White Flower Farm by the congregation’s youth members.

Live music will be playing in the background. Free hors d’oeuvres will be provided by congregation members and local eateries, including Coffee’s Country Market, Fromage Fine Foods, Pasta Vita and The Chocolate Shell. And SeaSide Wine & Spirits will be on hand, offering free wine tastings.

You can also learn about the different efforts FCCOL is undertaking to help protect the rights and dignity of local immigrant families who may face sudden deportation proceedings. All proceeds from the event will go to support the charitable work of the FCCOL Immigration Assistance Committee. Through this committee, our congregation members help immigrant families:

  • connect with social-service agencies that offer free or low-cost aid before and during a deportation proceeding;
  • understand the need to prepare for and respond to a potential deportation situation, particularly when their families include children who are U.S. residents;
  • learn their rights under federal and state law; and
  • avoid common immigration-services scams.

If you’re unable to attend the event, but would still like to support our work in this area, please send your tax-deductible contribution via check or money order to the Immigration Assistance Fund, FCCOL, 2 Ferry Road, Old Lyme, CT 06371.

Thank you for your support!

We Depend Upon One Another

We depend upon our faith to guide us. We depend upon one another as we share and deepen our own spirituality to perform our work. And we know, too, that there are people who depend upon us – even as we depend upon them - to be signs of hope in troubling times. With our annual Stewardship Campaign, we depend upon you. We rely on you to make our ministries and our outreach possible. Our annual Stewardship Campaign raises nearly 90% of the funds needed for our ministry and missions. We welcome – and are grateful for – any and all gifts.
