On September 15th, all families and supporters are invited after church to an Open House downstairs in the Sunday School rooms to meet teachers, learn about our program and visit with one another. Our Board of Youth Ed will host a reception.
Our theme this year is called Peacemaking Partners: Meet You at the Peace Table!
Each of our classes this fall will be exploring what it means to be a peacemaker and follow in the teachings of Jesus, the prophets and other wisdom figures of yesterday and today. Students will also learn some pathways for finding peace within ourselves and skills for managing conflicts. We’ll wonder about what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr meant when he said, “True peace is not merely the absence of tension: it is the presence of justice.” Classes will remind one another that even small acts of kindness and care can make the world a more peaceful place. We’ll learn from one another in our community, too, from local neighbors to those around the world as we explore our curriculum with storytelling, music, drama, art and field trips. Please submit a registration form for the child/children in your family on our opening day or as soon as you can!
Also, please let us know if you might be interested in joining our classroom of volunteers or be available as an occasional substitute when needed.
