With 2020 and 2021 in our rearview mirror – we are looking forward to a return to normalcy and what better example than the annual White Elephant Sale that started back in the 1930s. This will be our 3rd attempt at the 84th event.

Given the success of our Holiday Sale Christ the King’s Autumn Festival and with the relaxing of mandates by the State, things are looking up. Of course it is still early – no one knows what 6 months will bring as our ministers will have the final say.

Meanwhile the WES executive board met in January to plan for the sale and discussed contingencies with respect to Covid-19 and its variants. We had to make plans like reserving dates, tents and banner times so that we will be ready if everything is a go. We did decide to eliminate the Electrical and Lamp departments due to staffing and other factors. This opens up the Sunday school area so there will be less crowding which works out well considering Covid.

This year’s dates are July 8 and 9 and attached is a calendar for those planning other Summer activities around those sale days.

As always we are in need of department heads and hope you will consider stepping up with others to help run a department. Two seem to work well sharing responsibility and think of all that fun you’ll have. Current openings include:

    • Children’s Clothing – co-chair
    • Kitchen – co-chair
    • Large Furniture – co-chair
    • Musical instruments – person for sale day.
    • Intake screener for parking lot – a 3rd person
    • Parking attendants – 3-4 folks on sale day at CTK church & Ludington property
    • Package check – sale day [adult and kids]
    • Worker Refreshment – sale day [adult and kids]
