Hot Mess, Cool Science: How Change Climate Really Works

Marc will give a talk that is a mix of the history, science and politics of climate change.  He has written two books that each have a chapter about climate change: “Solutions for a Cleaner Greener Planet” and “The State of Science .”

Zimmer is a chemist with a passion for jellyfish, fireflies and all other bioluminescent organisms. Marc has written eight books and published over 65 research papers about cow flatulence, computational chemistry and bioluminescence in fireflies and jellyfish. He was named the Connecticut Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation and named one of “Thirteen of the best college professors in the country” in the Huffington Post. He has published articles on science and medicine for the Los Angeles TimesUSA TodayBoston Globe and the Chicago Tribune, and has been interviewed and quoted in The EconomistScience and Nature. In 2008 Marc was a consultant for the Chemistry Nobel Prize, and he and his wife attended the award ceremony in Stockholm. ” Zimmer teaches an environmental chemistry course at Connecticut College and Semester at Sea.
