While most churches will be celebrating Earth Day on Sunday, April 23, our own recognition of that event will occur a week later, on Sunday, April 30th. That’s when representatives from the Nehantic tribe will join us in worship, as we learn about those who inhabited the land we now reside on prior to the arrival of European settlers. It will be an opportunity to build a new set of relationships, including a new and different relationship to the land – to the Earth – itself. We will also share a Land Acknowledgment statement that the Board of Deacons at FCCOL has adopted, as a means of opening those new relationships. We hope you will join us for that special service on the 30th.
